Learning to be the best that we can be with the love of God

Welcome to Class 2P

 Class Teacher: Mrs H Price

Teaching Assistant: Miss Dillon

Both myself and Miss Dillon are thrilled to be welcoming you all back into school.  We are very excited to embark on our Year 2 journey together.  We have planned an interesting and exciting curriculum.

We will start the year with the topic "Street Detectives".  As part of this topic we will focus on the question "Where is Rossington?"  we will use maps to discover the human and physical features of our local area and identify and create map symbols.

 PE Days

Our PE days are Monday's and Wednesday's

Please ensure that your child has both indoor and outdoor PE kit in school on these days. Wherever possible PE will take place outside, therefore it is important that outdoor PE kit includes suitable footwear (trainers/pumps) and clothing suitable for colder weather (tracksuit bottoms/long sleeved top or jacket).  For health and safety reasons children should not be wearing any jewellery, particularly earrings.  These should be removed before coming to school (if this is not possible plasters/tape should be applied prior to coming to school).

Homework will be given on a Friday and should be completed by the following Thursday.

Each week your child will read with an adult at school (comments from adults in school will be written in green pen)  We encourage parents/carers to read as often as possible with their children and ask that you aim for a minimum of 4 times a week.  Please record this in your child's reading record, including date, title, pages read and a comment.  We ask that children keep the same book over a period of time enabling them to re-read the book several times.  Each time your child reads the book they will gain accuracy, pace and fluency.
