An Amazing Start
We have already made such an amazing start to the Year.
We had an amazing Tudor Day for our topic 'Off With Her Head', where we dressed up in Tudor clothes, learned about the different crimes and punishments, made a Tudor posies taught to us by the herb wife and played Tudor games.
We will be taking this learning into many areas of our curriculum and have already written some fantastic diary entries.
Our class book is My Friend Walter by Michael Morpurgo. We have written some excellent character and setting descriptions.
Our timetable is jam packed and very busy.
Homework is to be handed in every Monday and a new piece will be handed out also on a Monday.
Children will receive a piece of numeracy and literacy homework.
P.E. is taught every Friday afternoon with Miss Walker and on a Wednesday morning.
Swimming - Lessons will begin Wednesday 22nd November 2017
Reading - Children will be read to at least once every week and we complete a reading lesson every day. Children need to be reading at least three times per week at home.
Spelling - We have started a new scheme in school called Read Write Inc.
Children log the spellings they are learning during the week. These log books are to be taken home and brought back every day.
I am Mrs Stanfield. This is my 5th year teaching at St Michaels and I love this school. I have taught many year groups through my career but really enjoy teaching Year 5.
There are many other adults that support us during the week.
Monday and Tuesday – Mrs Speck is with us all day
Wednesday and Thursday morning – Miss Leavers
Wednesday and Thursday afternoon – Mrs Atherton
Friday morning is split – Mrs Connell and Mrs Hughes
Friday afternoon – Miss Leavers teaches PSHCE and Miss Walker teaches PE.
