The music curriculum at St Michaels's promotes a love of singing and performing throughout the year groups. All children at St Michael's are given the opportunity to sing weekly through assembly times and also within topic themes. We have a focus of weekly singing assemblies too. Children show enthusiasm and excitement when learning every new song.
Children from the earliest stage are encouraged to sing, compose and perform using a range of tuned and un-tuned musical instruments. The school provides opportunities for children to showcase their talents in activities such as singing clubs, school orchestra and school performances.
In KS2, children are givien opportunities to learn orchestral instruments with additional peripatetic teachers coming in to give expert tutition. Many of our pupil take ARBSM grades before they leave the school in Y6. Recently past pupils have gone on to represent National Youth Orchestras and constesting bands playing at a very high standard.
